the project
The Grand Paris Express includes 68 new stations and as many artworks, each created by an artist and an architect working in tandem.
For the new RATP station in Chevilly-Larue, designed by architect Jérôme Brunet, artists Gerda Steiner and Jörg Lenzlinger imagined a living, colourful floor. La Belle Vie souterraine is a complex assembly of 15,000 porcelain stoneware pieces. The work is at the heart of the station, on a footbridge suspended above the tracks.
PAAR carried out the engineering studies and supported the fabrication and installation of the work.
