the project

The Grand Paris Express includes 68 new stations and as many artworks, each created by an artist and an architect working in tandem.

For the new Saint-Denis Pleyel station, Prune Nourry is creating a work to be installed during 2027 in the atrium designed by Kengo Kuma. Les Vénus dionysiennes is a set of 108 sculptures inspired by the earliest depictions of women in the Palaeolithic period. The 108 Venuses will stand 1.70 m tall and be clad in a skin of earths in different colours.

PAAR designed a discreet hanging system for the sculptures that preserves the station's interior cladding.
